What Richard Wiswell does to help our planet.



☺ Mr. Wiswell a farmer at Cate Farm, is one of many people who are trying to help the earth by using environmentally-friendly products like vegetable oil and solar power instead of oil and gas. Additionally, he uses organic and cover crops. Cover Crops trap nutrients and sunlight to grow crops without harmful pesticides. He uses a battery charged tractor for cultivating. He gets vegetable oil from NECI and J. Morgan’s. He wanted to use vegetable oil because he saw a workshop by another farmer about using vegetable oil and he thought that it was a very good idea. In the past few years he has noticed climate change in VT. He is not absolutely sure if it is climate change but if it is he thinks it’s because of the CO2 emitting from Fossil Fuels. This man truly makes a difference in our world. ☺

I enjoyed interviewing Mr. Wiswell and I think we learned a lot from him about being earth conscious. I think our group cooperated well together.

In this project, I was a recorder who wrote down the information for the story. I was also a writer of the story. through doing this, I learned that there are cover crops that trap sunlight. I thought that was interesting.
